Lowongan Advocacy and Communications Officer , BISA Project Indonesia – Jakarta,

Overall Purpose/Broad Function:

NI is managing BISA program in collaboration with Save the Children.

By 2024, BISA program mission is to prevent and reduce stunting children – with a focus on women, adolescent girls, and children – by improving their nutritional status. The Advocacy and communications team has a key role to play in achieving that goal, creating an enabling environment where BISA can increase its visibility, influence and ultimately mobilize greater resources for the organization and the entire nutrition movement. Reporting to the Deputy Chief of Party, the Advocacy and Communications Officer will play a key role in conceptualizing and executing the project’s advocacy and communications strategies and tactics to position BISA as a key nutrition intervention in Indonesia.  

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Communication Aspects:

Support with the planning and implementation of communication tasks and events aimed at strengthening the roll out and long-term implementation of BISA.  

Build partnerships with national, provincial and district partners including government representatives and strengthen collaboration to advance project objectives.

Work closely with the team to identify and create opportunities for external communication to highlight the project progress and successes.

Engage with TV, radio and print journalists as needed to publicise the project and expand its support base.

Create communications products including factsheets, brochures, banners, project briefs and social media content.

Advocacy Aspects:

Policy Advocacy Tactics

Lead and support the development of compelling advocacy products (policy briefs, presentations, speaking notes, web content etc)

Support the development of background materials to support policy advocacy (briefing notes, meeting frameworks, concept notes, etc)

Partnerships

Represent BISA in key policy advocacy groups, identifying opportunities to achieve NI advocacy goals through these coalitions, and, in consultation with team, developing plans to harness these opportunities.

Support external meetings with key advocacy targets (department and political stakeholders, etc)

Supervisory Responsibilities:

No supervisory obligations

Education/Professional Designations/Experience:

Education:

Bachelors or Masters degree in Communications, International Development, Public Affairs, Political Science, Marketing, Social Sciences or a similar field with a minimum of 5 years’ experience.
Background in nutrition, gender, human rights and/or economics an asset.
Previous NGO experience and a demonstrated commitment to international development preferred. 
International work experience an asset
 Experience:

Experience creating communications and policy advocacy products
Experience developing and implementing advocacy strategies, at a national level and provincial level.
Experience building relationships and coalitions with key partners, governments, NGOs /CSOs and the private sector.
Experience working in the not-for-profit sector, with a preference for development or nutrition experience.
Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Ability to work in a fast paced environment and delivering high-quality work under tight deadlines.
In depth knowledge of Indonesia and with a focus on nutrition.
Exceptional skills in analyzing and communicating complex information in an accessible way for a non-technical audience

Language Skills:

Excellent writing and speaking skills in English and Bahasa are required.

Travel Requirements:

Some domestic travel may be required
