Position summary:
The Senior Associate, Palm Oil Stakeholder Engagement and Policy will be responsible for leading the project implementation and coordinate project activities on the ground. S/he will support the Team Manager, Palm Oil in implementing palm oil and other related  commodities field-related programs in West Kalimantan, Indonesia. S/he will help in implementing series of field activities in Ketungau Hulu and Ketungau Tengah subdistrict, Sintang District, West Kalimantan. S/he will support the project through the implementation of Smallholder Inclusiveness, Landscape and Jurisdictional based approach as well implementing other potential sustainability initiative. The Senior Associate will also help district government to achieve sustainability commitment in producing palm oil and other potential commodities.  S/he will also contribute to the implementation of LandScale and lead other initiative such as promoting social forestry, monitor project implementation, coordinate field work with ot
hers in the farm programs team, and support farmer access to preferred markets development from the commodity source. The Senior Associate will take care of adequate communication and information exchange on field activities with all stakeholders at the national and sub-national level.

Responsibilities:

*      Conduct landscape and jurisdiction palm oil data collecting as well as conduct Planning.
Develop oil palm stakeholders mapping and engagement according to Rainforest Alliance guidance priorities. Including formulate program plan (resourcing, planning, monitoring, quality controlling, and organizational requirement), determine budget to be in line with program's objectives.

*      Research and Data Analysis
Map and analyze data to produce baseline study and projected impacts within Rainforest Alliance strategic plan period, need identification, define stakeholder roles, power and network, determine the feasibility and define program objectives within agreed project management guideline.

*      Policy Development

Use information from data and other sources to form guidelines and policies (or drafts) for government and other oil palm related stakeholders and contribute to develop local policies.

*      Implementation

Maintain and manage communication, coordinate and consult to relevant stakeholders on oil palm industry. Assist Palm Oil Manager to execute palm oil related program and projects, coordinate activities of the project team members, progress monitoring, and its compliance with the program plan, manage and mitigate project risks, identify strategic, alliance, and adjust project plan when necessary. In close consultation with Team Manager, Palm Oil, the Senior Associate to create awareness and force the implementation of sustainable palm oil according to Rainforest Alliance strategic plan.

*      Impact Evaluation

Analyze the impact of conducted and ongoing program/project activities, to give feedbacks for current and future strategic adjustment on palm oil value chains transformation activities.

*      Certification compliance

Engage related palm oil stakeholders to adopt and implement existing credible certification schemes applicable to Indonesia.

*      Report

Prepare and maintain periodical reports and analyses such as progress of transformation and outcome for internal and external use.

*      Works within oil palm industry value chains and with targeted stakeholders / institutions at national and sub-national level.

*      In close consultation with Team Manager, Palm Oil, support Rainforest Alliance oil palm stakeholder engagement and manages the relation with a certain institution on operational/tactical level.

*      Other duties assigned by Team Manager, Palm Oil.

Qualification

  *  Minimum Bachelor Degree in forestry, and social science or other related fields, Master degree are preferable;
  *  Minimum 7 years of professional work experience with palm oil sector or Natural Resource Management (NRM).
  *  Reasonable understanding of computer programs for reporting purposes (MS Office and Internet);
  *  Familiar with landscape and jurisdictional approach, palm oil supply chains, farming and agriculture production and processing activities, Oil palm issues at sub-national up to global level, and group events;
  *  Strong written and verbal communications skills in Indonesia and English;
  *  Ability to work independently and guide a trainer's team towards defined objectives and goals; and
  *  Willingness and ability to spend significant periods in rural areas, in areas with some relative hardships in living conditions.

Salary
Commensurate with experience.
