Request for Proposal 1833-XX Process Documentation and Learnings of WIFA Supplementation Program in East Java and East Nusa Tenggara provinces in Indonesia

Dear Potential Bidders,

 

Nutrition International/NI is implementing MITRA Youth, a project supporting Weekly Iron Folic Acid Supplementation (WIFAS) for prevention and reduction of Iron Deficiency Anaemia (IDA) among school-going adolescent girls, in selected districts in two provinces of Indonesia: East Java and East Nusa Tenggara. MITRA Youth is funded by Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) Australia.


NI, in partnership with the governments of Indonesia, Australia and Canada, implementing MITRA Youth: Weekly Iron Folic Acid Supplementation for prevention and reduction of Anaemia among school-going adolescent girls, in select districts of East Java and East Nusa Tenggara provinces, Indonesia. The objectives is to improve nutrition for adolescent girls (15 to 19 years) through incread access and consumption of Weekly Iron Folic Acid Supplementation (WIFAS).


The project in the three years of implementation has been able to make significant progress including training of PHO and DHO level staff as well as Health staff in 20 districts WIFAS program; development and distribution of Behaviour Change Intervention (BCI) materials to all health center and provide technical assistance to health workers. It is planned to conduct process documentation and learning of WIFA supplementation programs for 15 to 19 years of age school going adolescent girls (MITRA Youth) in East Java and East Nusa Tenggara.


Several intiatives were carried out by local government either on large scale (province/district) and small scale (school environment/health center/village level, etc) to support improvement of WIFA supplementation programs for 15 to 19 years of age school going adolescent girls. The process documentation will be conducted among selected local government staff to assess and analyze local government intiative. Furthermore, this would be able to provide better understanding of initiatives that done by local governments and sustainability of activities carried out to other local government and donors.


Level of knowledge, understanding and process done by local government to implement these initiatives will be explored. Startegic actors at various levels starting from province, district, subdistrict, village, school, health center, etc. will be interviewed to get their insights of rootcause/rationale in carrying out these initiative. Additionally, identification of resources and challenges that local government have encountered will be identify further to ensure the sustainable initiatives.


Process documentation and learning of MITRA Youth be disseminated in a workshop with the various stakeholders from the GoI, civil society organizations, private sector, academia, UN and donor agencies. NI would seek an agency assist in conducting process documentation and learnings for MITRA Youth project.
