BIDUK Finance and Operations Manager

We’re a start-up, grant funded program building a platform to make debt investments in small and growing businesses in Jakarta, with a focus on women-owned/women-led businesses.  The position is expected to collaboratively support a small, but growing team (international and Jakarta) to develop a strong and positive professional image among institutional donors, development finance institutions and clients.  The business model is expected to evolve into a for-profit lending platform.

We’re looking for a resilient, self-starter, who can evolve with the role, as the organization grows, to provide finance and operations support.  The ideal candidate will have a blend of experience with international donors/DFI, as well as experience in office management and relationship building. 

Ultimately, the roles and responsibilities, title and remuneration will depend on the experiences and expertise of the chosen candidate.

Key Aspects of the Role

·        Report to the internationally based senior leadership; support and liaise with other local staff, partners and consultants

·        Lead accounting, bookkeeping and finance record management for donor funded program Liaise with clients before, during and after investment periods, including customer service and problem resolution.

·        Provide support on reporting to funders; familiarity with DFAT reporting is a plus

·        Support relationship building for partnerships that strategically fit with BIDUK partnership strategy

·        Manage the relationship with national and international donors and partners to meet the highest standards of donor compliance

·        Engage with the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) team on sharing of program information and data and active participation in program review and refinement for improvement through progress reporting and periodic Refresh and Refocus workshops

·        Work will be remote and based in an office, and will vary from day-to-day

Job Description

The selected candidate is required to become a brand ambassador, and to support the local representation and development of the business with the utmost professionalism.  This includes support in setting up a rep office, and the base of operations in Jakarta.

Office Management & Operational Support

·        Support efforts for local representative office including documentation, record keeping, expatriate visas, and other activities related to office administration and program management

·        Support with local banking and recordkeeping

·        Negotiate and manage logistics for local travel and accommodations

·        Manage local contracts including procurement, payment, and oversight

·        Maintain electronic filing system, including appropriate file backup

·        Develop and update relevant policies required to maintain compliance with Indonesian law

·        Serve as BIDUK representative in Jakarta, as needed

Accounting & Recordkeeping

·        Carryout bookkeeping for project in compliance with Indonesian legal requirements and BIDUK project requirements

·        Provide regular reports to BIDUK team on project financials

·        Manage petty cash in compliance with Indonesian law and BIDUK policies

·        Develop and update accounting and bookkeeping policies & procedures

·        Manage accounting, including development of financial statements in compliance with Indonesian law and BIDUK contract requirements

·        Support for local tax filings

·        Oversee growth forecasts, budget, accounting, tax and strategic planning


The Successful Applicant

Due to the global and high-profile nature of this organization, this role is only open to those who are fluent in both Indonesian and English languages (written and spoken), and already possesses the legal ability to work in Jakarta.  To fully be successful in this this highly dynamic organization, you should be/have:

Technical skills:
·        Minimum of 5 years working experience in reputable company

·        Knowledge of reporting and the mechanics of diverse institutional donors/ development partners (EU, USAID, DFAT, DFID, SIDA etc..)

·        Undergraduate degree in economics, social sciences, international relations/development, finance, business, or any relevant fields preferred

·        Superb problem solving, analytical and decision-making skills

·        Ability to deliver to tasks on time and with quality

·        High level of computer and technology proficiency


Leadership skills:

·        Excellent time and project management skills, able to lead processes and coordinate between a wide range of actors to meet deadlines.

·        Representational skills, able to present information concisely and effectively to external actors

·        Excellent people skills, team builder and enthusiastic team worker

·        Ability to work independently, goal-oriented and efficient


Salary: Competitive, based on candidate experience and salary history
