SecondMuse is building a network of incubation and acceleration programs in Indonesia and within the region, focusing on ocean issues. We are looking for a Assistant Program Manager to co-lead our Ocean Plastic Prevention Accelerator (OPPA) program <https://oppa.id/>. This is a full-time position based in Surabaya and will report to the OPPA Program Manager.

What will you do? Only a little bit... of everything.

Planning and implementation of OPPA program initiatives: Co-lead the creation of work plans for the implementation of initiatives.
A bit of facilitating: Facilitate workshops and other program activities for waste-related organisations, and provide personal mentorship for program participants. Support existing waste management ventures to expand into Surabaya.
A bit of networking: Leverage your social skills to establish and maintain relationships with potential partners, collaborators, sponsors, and key stakeholders.
A bit of hosting: Host program supporters and potential partners in Surabaya, and introduce them to the local waste management ecosystem.
A bit of project management: Support the team in the timely and successful delivery of OPPA program initiatives.
A bit of quality assurance: Co-manage quality, ensuring that deliverables are exceptional and meet our objectives and expectations. Review deliverables before they are finalised.
A bit of evaluation: Support post-project documentation and review (monitoring and evaluation requirements).
A bit of sharing: Utilise company-wide best practices. Capture project learnings and participates in sharing learnings across project teams and the broader company.
A bit of peer-learning: Work alongside peers executing programs in other locations to learn from, and share best practice.

External communication: Create communication materials about program initiatives together with SecondMuse communication experts.
Knowledge sharing: Share your expertise and experience with other members of the company at regular learning events.
Research: Desk research and communication with representatives of other SecondMuse projects to identify best practices.

Who’s right for the job?

If you’re one kind of Superman, Wonder Woman, Spiderman, or Gatot Kaca who can zap away all the plastics from the ocean and from this planet, then you will definitely be on the next superhero movie.

But you don’t have to be a superhero to join us, you only need to:

Have a strong competency to translate high-level concepts and ideas into real action.
Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
The ability to implement changes and continuously adapt plans based on new insights.
Have extensive experience and a high-level capacity to coordinate stakeholders with diverse interests.
Some experience with facilitation and presentation and interest in supporting the learning of individuals.
Be eager to learn something new, can deal with ambiguity and consider multiple perspectives and possible solutions.
Love building connections, learning from other people, and keen to present SecondMuse and OPPA to external parties.
Be passionate about creating impact, driving positive change, and collaborating with others in order to improve sustainability in Indonesia.
Be a self-motivated, compassionate, and solution-oriented person.

This job is definitely NOT for you if you:

Aren’t fluent in Bahasa Indonesia, both oral and written, and not eager to learn East Java community characteristics.
Don’t have intermediate English communication skills.
Have no extensive experience in project management, planning and implementation. Ideally, you have 5-10 years work experience and show evidence of a minimum of 2-3 years experience in independently leading project teams.
Have never worked in a highly collaborative team environment.
Do not see diversity as the strength of the team.
Are not an Indonesian citizen.


Even better, if you already know:

Human-centered design principles.
Innovation methodologies such as hackathons, business accelerators, incubation, collaborative design and challenges.
Experience in mentoring people and teams, ideally in a social innovation context.
Plastic and waste management sector in Indonesia.
Know about operational processes within large NGOs, government institutions or corporates.
Working environments of virtual teams distributed across different locations.
