Country Purpose:

Islamic Relief Worldwide in Indonesia was operation since 2003 following the  MOU signing with the Ministry of Home Affairs. The objective of IRW in Indonesia programme is to contribute to the social welfare of the Indonesia people and to alleviate the suffering. The main sector for the programme include:


·         Water and Sanitation

·         Sustainable livelihood

·         Education

·         Child Welfare

·         Shelter

·         Disaster Risk Reduction

The geographical area are Banten, NTB, Aceh and Central Sulawesi province directly implementing or  through partners.


Islamic Relief  Worldwide in Indonesia is looking to recruit Program Officer - ALO,  based in Lombok, NTB .


Reporting Line:

Post holder direct reports to : Area Coordinator


KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


a)        Project/Program management: 

·      Work with the team in visioning, goal-setting, and implementation to meet the organization's short- and long-term objectives

·      Identify, develop and promulgate special initiatives to improve program efficacy

·      Mobilize professionals and volunteers in visualizing, creating, and producing ground breaking child welfare practice, policy, and tools

·      Provide technical assistance to IR Indonesia programs on matters concerning non-profit management, best practices in child welfare, and program advancement

·      Implementing innovative ALO project especially quality education program for the children and livelihood for orphan and widow HHs

·      Facilitate meetings and lead trainings, in collaboration with staff and allies



b)       Resource development:

·      Ensure appropriate metrics to analyze program data and develop reports toward organizational goals

·      Ensure program content, messaging, reporting and compliance for grants, in cooperation with the IR team


c)    Policy and Practice:

·           Work with IR team and act as a liaison with local administration and OCW programs

·           Travel as necessary for program implementation, trainings, participation in program site visits

·           Represent CW Programming at local level

·           Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with Local counterpart and form strategic alliances with new partners and organizations

·           Write and edit marketing pieces, newsletters, articles, and reports for both the professional and lay audience

·           Assume additional responsibilities and perform other duties as delegated by the supervisor – this position requires a “can-do-will-do-anything” professional

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

·           Demonstrated belief in and commitment to the IR mission and values;

·           Exceptional skill and comfort in writing and editing

·           Ability to work independently, take a project from start to finish, be organized and meet deadlines;

·           Ability to manage multiple tasks and set priorities;

·           Desire and skill in posting and participating in social media and other marketing strategies;

·           Strong communication skills, including public speaking;

·           Exceptional ability to research and apply existing evidence to improve policy and practice in child welfare;

·           Strong analytical skills;

·           Proven ability to work with and develop cultural competence when partnering with people from diverse communities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

·           At least 1 year’s relevant professional experience

·           Postgraduate degree or equivalent in the relevant field like; Social science advanced degree preferred

·           Knowledge and expertise in the field(s) of education livelihood Program, and child welfare and non-profit management

·           Experience and relationships with child welfare partners and/or funders a plus

·           Proven advocacy skills, ability to communicate a genuine passion for child welfare issues in a compelling and authentic manner to multiple audiences; Have a working knowledge of public policy in Indonesia. Passion for advocating for children and communities of low-income families preferred.

·           Demonstrated abilities in policy work including but not limited to: drafting specific policies; advocating for specific policy initiatives through meetings with members of legislative or administrative bodies and community stakeholders; collaborating with colleagues and within coalitions to develop policy goals and initiatives; and educating and informing coalitions and communities about specific policy initiatives

·           Superb writing and editing ability – must be able to think, write and edit at a professional level

·           Demonstrated ability to make strategic decisions in complex or fast-paced situations.

·           Broad alliance-building experience, including working in collaboration with multiple organizations

·           Must submit to and pass a thorough background check including character references and criminal and child abuse history
