Hivos Vacancy : Executive Director Yayasan Humanis dan Inovasi Sosial

Hivos, the Netherlands based INGO, has been implementing and supporting various development projects in Indonesia and Southeast Asia for over 15 years. Recently an independent local Foundation (Yayasan Hivos) in Jakarta has been set up which will take over the projects and activities of Hivos in Southeast Asia. For its Hivos looking for an exceptional leader for the position of:

Position within the organization
Humanist Institute for Co-operation with Developing Countries, The Hague, The Netherlands (Hivos Foundation) set up its office in Jakarta, Indonesia during 2005 after decades of project and process support relationship with Indonesian civil society from the Netherlands. Recently an independent local Foundation (Yayasan Humanis dan Inovasi Sosial) has been established in Indonesia which will inherit the current projects and activities of Hivos Foundation in Southeast Asia. The transition process is expected to be realized by the end of 2020.

The incoming Executive Director (ED) will work with the outgoing Southeast Asia Regional Director (RD) of Hivos Foundation in completing the transition process beyond which the ED will be responsible for implementation and further development of the program portfolio.

The ED will report to the National Board of Yayasan Hivos through its Chair. For an agreed length of time there will be a matrix link with the Executive Board of Hivos Foundation consisting of its Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer.  

Aim of the job
• Working in close collaboration with staff, partners and beneficiaries the ED gives shape to the strategy, business plan for the Yayasan and ensures its resourcing and implementation in line with agreed quality standards and timeline.  
• The ED represents the Yayasan in Indonesia and within the Southeast Asia region consisting of all 11 ASEAN countries. (Currently the program countries are Indonesia, Philippines and Timor Leste with some program development work in Myanmar)
• S/he will represent the Yayasan to the Government of Indonesia, and other Governments in the region as appropriate.  
• S/he will have overall responsibility for all the Yayasan activities, projects, positioning, resource mobilization and its effective management in Indonesia/ Southeast Asia.
• S/he is a people manager and creates a professional infrastructure and an open, creative and dynamic working spirit. S/he delegates responsibilities and roles to colleagues and is responsible for maintaining a dynamic team.
• S/he contributes to both the social results and the financial sustainability.
Functional context
• The ED is the most senior management position in the organization. During the transition period from Hivos Foundation to Yayasan Hivos s/he acts in coordination with Indonesian National Board, RD and staff team of the SEA Regional Hub and Hivos Foundation Executive Board.
• S/he works together with colleagues to mobilize and coordinate the operational and implementation capacity.
• S/he works together with Program Development Managers and Program Managers for innovating and developing programmatic response and solutions to emerging developmental challenges.
• S/he co-creates the future of the Yayasan in close partnership and coordination with Yayasan staff, partners and other stakeholders.

Knowledge, experiences and competencies
• Graduation in social science, business administration. Preferably Post Graduation level qualification
• More than 10 years’ experience as a manager in complex operations in national context.
• Notable experience and profile in international networks and multi-stakeholder environment.
• Ability and experience in high level representation i.e. government, embassies, donors etc
• Extensive knowledge of and experience in a professional, service-oriented organisation.
• Experience in working to and with local Board governance structure.
