Title                  :  Consultant Communication for Sustainable Diet for All (SD4All) Program

Duration            :  3.5 months (start in July 2020)

Background

In January 2016, Hivos together with IIED launched a 5-year strategic partnership with the Dutch Government to transform the food system and promote sustainable diets.

Sustainable diets are healthy and diverse, respectful of ecosystems, culturally acceptable and economically fair and affordable for all. Together with civil society organizations, the programme aims to influence the policies and practices of governments and the private sector.

The program supports civil society organizations to increase their capacity to influence policy and practices of market and government actors through citizen research, action and related advocacy to promote sustainable diets for all.

The program also supports civil society organizations to work with frontrunner movements, companies, local governments and the media to generate change at both the producer and consumer level. It will engage with small scale producers, food service providers (from retailers to restaurants), governments, academia, private sector and other civil society organizations to create coalitions of the willing for resilient and diverse regions and cities.

Since the program will end in December 2020, there is a need to further document the achievements and the stories from the field. The consultant will work closely with Communication Officer Hivos Southeast Asia who will ensure communication products are in line with Hivos communication guidelines and share Hivos values of humanity.

Objective

The Communication and Knowledge Management Consultant develops communication materials – focusing on storytelling with human interests - on (and where possible disseminates) a number of past, recent, and upcoming events and activities throughout the regions where SD4All projects are being implemented, namely Jember and Kapuas Hulu regencies, Southeast Sulawesi province, as well as potential linkages with activities under the Switch Asia Local Harvest (in collaboration with SD4All) project that include, among others, Jakarta, Bandung, and Yogyakarta.

The Consultant will also provide support in managing the knowledge, information, and materials (stories, documentations, publications etc.) by Hivos and partners, and to provide coaching clinic/training for partners on ‘stories of change’.

Furthermore, the Consultant will also support in supervising and/or translate communication and campaign products for broader audience (all communication products need to be in both Indonesian and English) as well as to ensure inclusivity in each communication/campaign materials through content and structure of the products.

Deliverable(s)

•       Improving four stories of change already drafted by partners and provide input for potential new information

•       Dissemination of the products

•       Support GBDI in finalizing layout of chef manual based on Hivos branding guidelines

•       Support two of the partners to create a story of change for each (in English and Indonesian) and dissemination of the products

•       A video graphic on the program’s achievements in the five years of implementation

•       A news item/story about one of the city-based sustainable food platforms for the World Food Day

A narrative report that includes documentation on the whole process, including results, evaluation, database on knowledge products, and recommendations for improvement


Qualifications and Experiences :

We are seeking an Indonesian person or a team (preferably based in Greater Jakarta area) with the following qualities:

•       Affinity for Hivos’ vision and mission and are driven by a strong motivation to contribute to real and lasting change.

•       Knowledge of and experience in the field of international development cooperation and excellent skills in the development and implementation of communication strategies.

•       Interest and knowledge in sustainable food issues.

•       Know how to reach your target groups through innovative and conventional media.

•       "Experience with content management systems, and preferably with layout and graphic design image editing in producing visual communications including video graphics is a must."

•       Excellent organizational skills.

•       Full professional proficiency of writing articles in English and Bahasa.

•       5 years of working experience, in particular with corporate communication and campaigning, copywriting for another similar website and use of social media.

•       Strong communicator in both English and Bahasa.

•       Innovative and flexible and able to work in a complex environment with multiple stakeholders and international partners.

•       Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field

•       Ability to perform tasks and produce communications materials based on certain organizational strategy, values and guidelines
