Consultant as Communication Assistant to the FHI 360 MADANI Civil Society Support Initiative

FHI 360 is currently recruiting for an external consultant provide services as a communication assistant for the 5-year USAID-funded MADANI Civil Society Strengthening Project in Indonesia.  MADANI strengthens local government accountability and communal tolerance in Indonesia by improving and sustaining local civil society’s capacity, legitimacy and sustainability. MADANI works in 32 districts in the provinces of Banten, West Java, Central Java, East Java, West Kalimantan, and South Sulawesi. Our vision is to leave Indonesia a better functioning, more tolerant, and more resilient democracy, demonstrated by strengthened local democratic practices, improved district and village government performance and responsiveness, better accountability of frontline service delivery, and more effective and inclusive mechanisms for community-level participation and transparency

Scope of Work

MADANI is presently seeking an external consultant to provide services as a communication assistant for supporting communication material production of MADANI. The consultant will on-demand provide the following services:



·       Support MADANI’s Communication Specialist to produce communication products such as writings, concepts, press releases, brief impact stories, etc.

·       Provide layout design and support to develop a variety of promotional, educational and informational materials (printed, audio visual, online) and other related media material, should always have branding according to donor requirements (size, proportion, placement and formats.

·       Assist the Communication Specialist in developing and updating social media content (Facebook, Website, twitter, Instagram, Linkedin) that are aligned with USAID’s overarching outreach and communications strategies.

·       Analyze data from social media analytics to suggest recommendations for strengthening program and campaign results

·       Ensures social media content conforms to the overall design and branding, and is consistent with USAID public positions, messaging, and communications strategies.

·       Provide testing, design, and launch of digital communication products.



The consultant will coordinate monthly with the MADANI Communication Specialist on the tasks outlined above and will agree on changes to them as needed within the set scope, period of performance and agreed upon level of effort for this consultancy. All deliverable deadlines will be determined and communicated in a timely manner by the Communication Specialist



Location of Work

Jakarta, with possible travel to MADANI districts to cover important events

Level of effort:  

The consultant will work up to 75 days for one year, starting September 1, 2020.

Qualification, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

·       Bachelor's degree in communication, journalism, visual communication design, social science, or related field

·       At least 4 years documented working experience as a communication assistant, content creator, or social media specialist

Experience with design software (Adobe Creative Suite Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator) and website, photography and videography is a plus.
Experience with social media campaign and nonprofit organization is preferred
·       Fluent in English and Bahasa Indonesia

·       Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and perspectives, and a professional commitment to promote a culture of gender equality and social inclusion

·       Familiarity with USAID program is preferred
