BACKGROUND

The MITRA KUNCI Initiative is a five-year, $15 million, USAID-funded program that will promote more inclusive economic growth by improving access to workforce and entrepreneurial skills for poor and vulnerable youth. The MITRA KUNCI team will provide USAID project implementers and workforce stakeholders with technical support, connections, and platforms to help build a more robust and responsive workforce development ecosystem. In addition to management support, capacity building, and coordination, DAI’s technical assistance will include identifying, piloting, and scaling new workforce development approaches and innovations. The ultimate goal of USAID’s inclusive workforce development work is to connect 200,000 poor and vulnerable young Indonesians with learning and livelihood opportunities.

 

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

In order to consistently producing high quality content, tailored to fit for various purposes and audiences, in the limited time available, Mitra Kunci will need dedicated personnel to assume the task. The Editorial Consultant’s main task and responsibility is to support Mitra Kunci’s CCLA activities by ensuring the production of high-quality communication materials for various stakeholders and audiences, particularly for public dissemination purpose.

 

SPECIFIC TASKS

The Editorial Consultant’s specific tasks will include but not limited to supporting Mitra Kunci’s CCLA activities through producing written materials and, when appropriate, translating the materials from Bahasa Indonesia to English or vice versa. The written materials will include but not limited to feature articles for Mitra Kunci’s Medium.com page, brief reports for partners, knowledge management products, and contribution to the program’s regular reports.


DELIVERABLES

  • Final draft of feature articles Mitra Kunci’s Medium.com page, complete with supporting photographs;
  • Editorial support for knowledge management products (modules, publications, communications materials, etc.);
  • Contribution to Mitra Kunci’s Quarterly and Final Reports;
  • Translated written materials from Bahasa Indonesia to English or vice versa as assigned;
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

The Editorial Consultant will have no supervisory responsibilities.

 

Base of Operations

The Editorial Consultant will work remotely, but is ideally based in Jakarta, Indonesia to allow for visits to the Mitra Kunci Jakarta office when needed.

 

Reporting

The Editorial Consultant will report to Mitra Kunci’s Communications Specialist and be in coordination with Knowledge Management and Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist and Chief of Party.

 

Level of Effort and Timeline

The level of effort (LOE) for this assignment is up to 108 working days between the period of on/about March-November 2021.

 

Qualification

  • Minimum ten years of experience in editing, journalism, or other writing-centric roles;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in Bahasa Indonesia and English;
  • Familiarity with development and/or social inclusion issues;
  • Working experience with international donor projects is desirable
