BACKGROUND

The MITRA KUNCI Initiative is a five-year, $15 million, USAID-funded program that will promote more inclusive economic growth by improving access to workforce and entrepreneurial skills for poor and vulnerable youth. The MITRA KUNCI team will provide USAID project implementers and workforce stakeholders with technical support, connections, and platforms to help build a more robust and responsive workforce development ecosystem. In addition to management support, capacity building, and coordination, DAI’s technical assistance will include identifying, piloting, and scaling new workforce development approaches and innovations. The ultimate goal of USAID’s inclusive workforce development work is to connect 200,000 poor and vulnerable young Indonesians with learning and livelihood opportunities.

 

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

In order to consistently producing high quality visual content, tailored to fit for various purposes and audiences, in the limited time available, Mitra Kunci will need dedicated personnel to assume the task as a Graphic Designer. The Graphic Designer’s main task and responsibility is to support Mitra Kunci’s CCLA activities by utilizing the power of visual content to promote the program’s works across its offline and online publications, including social media outlets.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

The Graphic Designer will support Mitra Kunci’s CCLA activities through bringing inclusive workforce development initiatives into eye-catching visual materials, through the following:

  • Develop original images and illustrations to visualize the elements and activities of inclusive workforce, to be used across Mitra Kunci’s social media channels and publication materials;
  • Layout publication and knowledge management materials (including but not limited to modules, infographics, templates for publication materials such as e-flyers, posters, banners, and backdrop, etc.) while adhering to USAID branding and marking guidelines;
  • Other related duties as assigned by Mitra Kunci.


DELIVERABLES

The Graphic Designer will produce deliverables as follows:

  • Original visual content (illustrations, publication templates, infographics, etc.) for CCLA initiatives;
  • Final layout for Mitra Kunci’s feature stories from PROGRESIF program;
  • Final layout, covers, and illustrations for Buku Sumber Mata Kuliah Kewirausahaan (Resource Book on Entrepreneurship Course);
  • Final layout, covers, and illustrations for Buku Sumber Program Kewirausahaan untuk Mahasiswa Bidikmisi (Resource Book on Entrepreneurship for Bidkmisi Student);
  • Final layout, covers, and illustrations for Buku Acuan Pendirian dan Pengembangan Pusat Karier (Reference Book on Career Development Center);
  • Final layout, covers, and illustrations for Buku Peta Jalan Balai Latihan Kerja Komunitas (Book on BLK Community Roadmap);
  • Other original visual content as assigned.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

The Graphic Designer will have no supervisory responsibilities.

 

Base of Operations

The Graphic Designer will work remotely, but is ideally based in Jakarta, Indonesia to allow for visits to the Mitra Kunci Jakarta office when needed.

 

Reporting

The Graphic Designer will report to Mitra Kunci’s Communications Specialist and be in coordination with Knowledge Management and Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist and Chief of Party.

 

Level of Effort and Timeline

The level of effort (LOE) for this assignment is up to 108 working days between the period of on/about March-November 2021.

 

Qualification

The Graphic Designer needs to have the set of knowledge, experience, and skills as follows:

·       Minimum seven years of experience in graphic designing;

·       A strong portfolio of illustrations or other graphics;

·       Familiarity with image-editing software and technologies (e.g. InDesign, Illustrator, Procreate, or Photoshop);

·       A keen eye for aesthetics and details;

·       Ability to respond to requests in short notice and meet deadlines; and

·       Working experience in the non-profit or development sector is desirable.
