[Internship Program Notice] GIZ Indonesia for Rethinking Plastics Project: Intern for Knowledge Management Support

 The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a German implementing organization which provides services worldwide in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development. 

In collaboration with Expertise France, GIZ implements a program for reducing plastic waste and marine litter in East and South East-Asia (Rethinking Plastics: Circular Economy Solution to Marine Litter), financed by the European Union and co-financed by BMZ. The regional measures will be part of the global advisory BMZ project “Concepts for sustainable solid waste management and circular economy”. 

The project aims to support a transition to sustainable consumption and production of plastic in East and South East Asia (including Indonesia), and contribute to significantly reduce marine litter, including by supporting European approaches, policies and business models, with the following key outputs: 

  1. Providing an enhanced basis for relevant EU policy dialogues, e.g. on environment, fisheries and industry, concerning plastic production and management.
  2. Supporting the implementation of waste hierarchy, extended producer responsibility and deposit return schemes for plastic products and plastic waste.
  3. Facilitating the implementation of activities for sustainable consumption and production of plastic.
  4. Efforts for the reduction of litter from sea-based sources are enhanced
  5. Strengthened Green procurement policies, processes and cooperation particularly in Japan and Singapore.
  6. Increased awareness of public authorities and consumers about sustainable consumption and production of plastic and impacts on the environment of littering. 

For this reason, GIZ seeks a qualified Indonesian candidate for the following position: 

 

Intern for Knowledge Management Support 

 

  1. Responsibilities 
Support the Rethinking Plastics project on the knowledge management and the monitoring of the implementation of the project activities. 
 
  1. Tasks 

·           Support the communication and coordination with relevant actors in the implementation of a work plan in Indonesia
·           Support all the relevant activities for the preparation, implementation and finalization of technical workshops/webinars/ conference/ meetings conducted or supported by the Project,
·           Support monitoring of the implementation of the 7 pilot projects to ensure the compliance with the proposed work-plan, project’s communication and visibility plan and strategy,
·           Support the development of regular reporting to the Regional Team,
·           Support awareness raising and communication activities in collaboration with NGOs or other partner organisations,
·           Support the collection, compilation and management all the projects’ communication materials and technical documentation (technical reports, meeting notes, pictures, etc). 

 

C.  Required qualifications, competences and experience 

Qualifications

·                Fresh graduate or last semester bachelor student in environmental studies/International relation/communication, or others. 

Professional experiences

·                Basic knowledge of environmental management, communication/public or international relation,
·                Good conceptual, inter-personal communication, and representation skills,
·                Strong interest to work on issue related to plastic waste management/consumption reduction and human behaviour. 

Other knowledge, additional competences

·                Good communication, organisational and information management skills,
·                Intercultural understanding is additional advantages,
·                Self-motivated with time management skills and ability to work with minimum supervision, and strong willingness to learn
·                Good command of Ms. Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word),
·                Good English skills,
·                Ability to work in a team and to adapt to an international working environment.
·                Preferably active in student/public organizations or activities on environment related campaign,
·                Experience as note-taker is an advantage,
·                Ability to operate visual design programme is an advantage,
·                Experience in writing article, blog, social-media caption, is an advantage.
