We currently have an opening for:

 

District Engagement Specialist

 

District Engagement Specialist supports the implementation of KEE establishment and management in Mahakam Ulu District and other project sites in other provinces under USAID Indonesia Sustainable Environmental Governance Across Regions (SEGAR) program. The program is anticipated to run from 2021 –2026.

 

This includes the following functions:

  • Identify strategic partners (government agencies, private sector, NGOs, and communities) to be engaged in the establishment of essential ecosystem area.
  • Coordinate and engage government agencies, private sector, community, and other relevant stakeholders to initiate and maintain collaborative management of essential ecosystem area.
  • Participate in relevant meetings and events held by relevant partners to ensure smooth implementation of the program.
  • Serve as the principle contact to relevant government agencies, private sector, NGOs, communities, and other relevant stakeholders for the establishment and operationalization of essential ecosystem area.
  • Support biodiversity survey and analysis undertaken in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Prepare reports related to the establishment and management of KEE in Mahakam Ulu District and other landscapes in other provinces in coordination with Partnership Manager.
  • Maintain records (baseline, impact, lesson learnt) related to collaborative management of essential ecosystem area

 

This position reports to Partnership Manager, and will be based in Samarinda, East Kalimantan.

 

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS, law or business degree and 5 years’ experience in natural resource management or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in negotiating complex agreements.
  • Experience in using applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Web Browsers.
  • Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated.
  • Knowledge of land management conservation practice and conservation science
  • Ability to explain conservation practices to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Knowledge of current trends and practices in conservation, land management, and natural resource preservation.
  • Completing tasks independently with respect to timeline(s).
  • Excellent communication skills via written, spoken, and graphical means in English and other relevant languages.
  • Politically savvy and experienced in partnership development (partners, community, government)
