Vacancy Announcement: Media, Communication and Advocacy Manager based in Jakarta

Yayasan Relief Islami Indonesia (YRII) is an independent humanitarian and development organization. YRII, previously Islamic Relief Worldwide in Indonesia as globally with Islamic Relief Worldwide we have been fighting poverty and injustice for 30 years, in a world where more than three billion people still live in poverty.

Country Purpose:

Islamic Relief Worldwide in Indonesia has been operating since 2003, and officially became the Yayasan Relief Islami Indonesia in January 2022. The objective of the Yayasan Relief Islami Indonesia program is to contribute to the social welfare of the Indonesian people and to alleviate suffering. The main sector for the programme include:

•        Water and Sanitation

•        Sustainable livelihood

•        Education

•        Child Welfare

•        Shelter

•        Disaster Risk Reduction

•        Climate Change

The geographical area: NTB, Aceh, Central Sulawesi, West Sulawesi and Jakarta Province and will be expanded to all regions of Indonesia according to the development of the organization. The implementation of the program is carried out directly by YRII or through cooperation partners.

Yayasan Relief Islami Indonesia is seeking Media, Communication, and Advocacy Manager based in Jakarta.

Reporting Line:

Post holder would directly report to Chief Executive Officer.

Job Summary:

The Communications, Media and Advocacy Manager is a critical part of the YRII team, S/he will be working closely with other internal project staff, local partner organizations, and other staff of communication, Media and Advocacy of IR Headquarter and IR partners worldwide. S/he will be able to write clearly and succinctly, develop and communicate strategic messages, and devise strategies to reach and influence audiences, while working closely with ongoing individual project activities in multiple provinces. S/he will also track influential thinkers within country and global dialog and advocacy in the broader service sectors.

A primary responsibility of the position will be to contribute to the Developing country communication, media and advocacy policy of the organization to facilitate its implementation. We are looking for an innovative person which have critical thinking in media development and maintain communication as well as build advocacy which can make meaningful connections among local, global NGOs actors and all related stakeholders including government and private sectors. The position is preferred to be based in Jakarta and reports to the CEO of YRII.  

General Responsibilities:

·       Developing and delivering creative media, communication and advocacy strategies, plans and approaches to help market and position of YRII to attract partners and win funds including leading the development, implementation and monitoring the processes its strategies, plans, and approaches

·       Facilitating brainstorming sessions with related staff at all stages of the strategies, plans, and approaches formulation

·       Developing and implementing the media, communications, and advocacy strategic plan for specific areas of YRII work based on priorities in the Country Strategy.

·       Designing and developing creative communication, media and advocacy products – presentations, briefings, etc. that will maximize YRII’s messages, support program objectives and contribute to the achievement of annual business plan.

·       Developing and maintaining a YRII’s website.

·       Representing YRII at external meetings and conferences.

·       Act as the first point of contact for CMT and the CEO with regard to YRII external communications such as providing support with conference presentations.

·       Proposing and lobbying initiative for the organizations

·       Writing, publishing and disseminating advocacy brief

·       Developing policy work and activities related to advocacy work

·       Preparing and marketing proposals for fundraising projects including manage grant applicable to identify priority advocacy areas

·       Overseeing the fulfillment of donor-funded advocacy projects.

KEY COMPETENCIES

Experience/Education:

·       A successful candidate must possess a Minimum Bachelor or Master’s degree in related subject such as Mass Communication & Journalism, Social sciences, public relation, public policy, digital media, or international development, or a recognized relevant professional qualification for Communication, Media and Advocacy or qualified through experiences.

·       At least 7 years of relevant work experience in I/NGO.

Skills:

·       Have an excellent understanding of how to use media, communication and advocacy tools and techniques to increase the visibility, profile, networking and reputation of an organization

·       Have a good understanding of social media and the impact technology is having on communications and collaboration

·       Having a widely experience in managing attractive website and other social media platforms

·       Having a widely experience of representing an organization at external events

·       Having experiences in build an effective advocacy

·       Excellent skills in Photography and videography

·       Advance knowledge and skills in computer and digital media application

·       Excellent and effective English written and verbal communication skills
