PROJECT:                  United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Global Health Supply Chain Program – Procurement and Supply Management (GHSC-PSM) in Indonesia

 

OVERVIEW:

The USAID-funded Global Health Supply Chain-Procurement & Supply Management project (GHSC-PSM) is being implemented by Chemonics International. GHSC-PSM is the primary vehicle through which USAID 1) procures and provides health commodities, 2) provides technical assistance to improve partner country management of the health supply chain, and 3) collaborates with key international stakeholders to support global health initiatives.

 

In Indonesia, GHSC-PSM operates under the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) funded task order to conduct HIV and tuberculosis supply chain strengthening activities that support Indonesia on its journey to self-reliance. The focus of the project in Indonesia is to provide technical assistance in supply chain management to the Ministry of Health for HIV, TB, and laboratory commodities, in support of the national HIV/AIDS and TB programs in the country. At the national level, the project supports the Directorate of Direct Infectious Disease Control (Sub-directorates HIV/AIDS and TB), the Directorate of Quality and Health Services Accreditation (Laboratory services), and the Directorate of Public Medicine and Health Supplies. The project provides support to Jakarta Province and selected districts in some provinces based on requests from USAID.

 

 

SUMMARY:

 

The Communications Specialist is responsible for supporting PSM Indonesia office technical and operations teams in the implementation of PSM activities through the development of reports and management of outreach activities; responsible for ensuring quality control of all project reports and deliverables to USAID and other entities as required; oversee and assist in regular report writing and editing duties associated with project contract deliverables, as well as writing and editing technical reports and success stories; ensuring timely and accurate communications products that promote greater understanding of project activities among target audiences including USAID, Ministry of Health and other entities as required.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the development and implementation of the project’s communications and knowledge exchange strategy.
  • Work closely with the M&E and technical teams to identify data, stories, and articles for communications materials.
  • Stay informed of all major issues in Indonesia’s health sector and of the project’s strategies and methods, programs and activities, results and achievements, and best practices, lessons learned, and success stories so that project communication is rich, diverse, and well-grounded.
  • Implement the project communications strategy, ensuring the production of quality of project communications and marketing media, and provide editorial assistance and quality control assistance to the publication of all project reporting and communications.
  • Produce a variety of high-quality publications tailored with different project messages for various project partners.
  • Develop pages on social media such as FB, LinkedIn and publish project promotion content
  • Manage distribution process of communications material so the right information gets to the right audiences at the right time.
  • Provide strategic and programmatic advice on communications and knowledge exchange to project leadership to strengthen program design, workplans and implementation.
  • Work closely with the home office on campaigns, annual reports, and other USAID/GHSC-PSM communications activities. Provide new and/or updated written material for Chemonics websites, newsletters, and social media.
  • Consistently follow USAID regulations, Chemonics policies, and quality management best practices.
  • Carry out additional responsibilities as needed

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Master’s degree in communications, public health, knowledge management, international development, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar communications role, within international development organizations.
  • Experience working in international/global public health programs is strongly preferred.
  • Technical experience interacting with USG (especially USAID), including three years of experience working with USG-funded organizations.
  • Proven ability to organize, summarize, and rewrite technical information for non-expert audiences.
  • Excellent English oral and written communication skills (writing samples will be requested), facilitation and negotiating skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Bahasa Indonesia, including report writing and copywriting
  • Experience facilitating workshops and trainings in communication skills.
  • Familiarity with social medias.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and use good judgment.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in teams in a multi-cultural context.
  • Has understanding or experience working in HIV and TB Program in Indonesia is advantage and have advocacy skill experience to MoH.

 

 

SUPERVISION AND DIRECTION:

The Communication Specialist will report directly to the GHSC-PSM Country Director or designated team members.
