PT. Biru Karbon Nusantara (PT. BKN) is a company that established in March 2023 as a business entity to manage and utilize carbon credit funds from Indonesia Domestic Biogas Program which was previously manage by Yayasan Rumah Energi (YRE). The background of establishment of PT. BKN is Presidential Regulation 98/2021 Implementation of Carbon Economic Value, which regulates the provision for conducting carbon trading system which must be in the form of a business entity.  The aims of PT. BKN is to return the benefits of carbon transactions to the community at the grassroot, restore the planet and align the benefits of activities related to energy and agriculture for sustainability of the universe by providing consulting services, training and sustainable financing.

BIRU Program or Indonesia Domestic Biogas Programme (IDBP) is a program that aims to accelerate the use of bio-digester source by livestock waste in Indonesia by implementing a market oriented circular economy. Until December 2022, BIRU Program has reached 28,859 units bio-digester in 19 provinces in Indonesia with beneficiaries more than 133,000 people. Since 2013, BIRU Program has registered in Voluntary Program Activity in Gold Standard which certification entity for carbon project. Until November 2022, BIRU Program has contributed reduce 464,562 tCO2 emission. Since 2014, BIRU Program has received carbon funds which are used to subsidize the construction of bio-digester which ease the burden on biogas households. In addition, a small portion of the carbon fund is also used for monitoring activities which are mandatory from Gold Standard.

In running the company, a Business Development Manager is needed to assist the Director of PT. BKN in developing the company’s business. The ideal candidate is a person who have strategic mind-set, able to encourage and project company’s development and have a high commitment to the development of sustainable social entrepreneurship.

Scope of Work

The Business Development Manager is responsible for determining the target market, assist the Director to build trust, image and maintain the relationship with company’s partner. S/he is required to understand the company’s product and able to monitor the growth and market competition, and design various strategy for developing the company’s business.

The Business Development Manager is responsible for BKN’s brand recognition and financial growth. The Business Development Manager reviews current market trends in order to propose new business ideas that improve revenues. The Business Development Manager will usually be the first point of contact a new potential client will have with BKN and will take initiatives towards RFPs and existing and new carbon buyers


The main responsibility of the Business Development Manager is to assist the Director of PT. BKN in business and network development including relationships with related partners.

The responsibilities of the Business Development Manager also include:

·       Identify, prospect, negotiate and close deals in an aggressive time - frame

·       As a strategic adviser of Director

·       Create a sales strategy to attract new partners and potential business opportunities

·       Monitor the sales and development of business

·       Create a long partnership with all business partners

·       Develop a growth strategy focused both on financial gain and customer satisfaction

·       Conduct research to identify new markets and customer needs

·       Promote the company’s products/services addressing or predicting clients’ objectives

·       Prepare sales contracts ensuring adherence to law-established rules and guidelines

·       Keep records of sales, revenue, invoices etc.

·       Provide trustworthy feedback and after-sales support to partners as necessary

·       Comply with and have knowledge of all company policies and procedures


The Business Development Officer must be able to show the skills needed to build long-standing and successful relationships with key clients. S/he will have a clear, decisive way of communicating and adapting solutions for different needs on behalf of their clients.

·       Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Management, Finance or equivalent experience in business

·       Minimum of 5 years working experience in business development and/or marketing

·       Experience working in private sector is preferred

·       Having prior knowledge and/or experience in carbon market is a plus

·       Proven track record in boosting business and financial growth

·       Have a growth mind-set and think critically

·       Able to project and report opportunities accurately based on a strong data analysis skill

·       Proven and excellent skills in negotiation, communication and leadership

·       Able to work in a team, multitask and taking initiatives

·       Able to give comprehensive analysis and report both written and verbal

·       Strong interpersonal skill, able to work with team and highly agile

·       Excellent communication in English (written and verbal)

·       Proficiency in Ms. Office and CRM

·       Excellent management and planning skill

Contract Period

The selected candidate will be contracted for one year start from the signing of the contract.
