Overview of the Role:

The MAHKOTA Monitoring Evaluation and Quality Assurance (MEQA) Team is responsible for monitoring initiatives within the MAHKOTA program. Included in this monitoring is contextual monitoring of the social protection sector, including key social protection programs, policies, and regulations, and monitoring of sector stakeholders.  An essential part of this contextual monitoring is media monitoring done in a specific timeframe (daily, weekly, monthly, and semesterly) and reported to the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs (DFAT).  Since its inception in 2016, MEQA has been undertaking this media monitoring through various mechanisms, in-house, and media monitoring service providers, on selected topics proposed by MEQA. Media reports are summarized and submitted through different mechanisms such as daily newsletters, weekly reports, monthly reports, and semesterly reports. 
 
In order to strengthen the existing analysis, an annual study of media monitoring that evaluates the content with in-depth qualitative and quantitative analysis is needed.

In that purpose, MEQA requires to engage with a Media Monitoring Data Analyst to analyse the results of media monitoring within the period of 1 January 2020 – 30 June 2021.

About the Role:

The Media Monitoring Data Analyst will be required to undertake the following tasks:
1. Meet with MEQA and TNP2K representatives to discuss the assignment, including proposed analyses/methods and report requirements.
2. Undertake a qualitative content analysis of the database and media monitoring reports.
3. Undertake a quantitative analysis in addition to the quantitative analysis provided by Explicar (media monitoring provider).
4. Write a report (10-15 pages maximum) on findings, submit and present to MAHKOTA M&E team.
5. Provide 2-pager key findings and summary
6. Provide 1-page infographics
 
Responsibilities and duties:

The Media Analyst will provide the following deliverables:

1. A report (10-15 pages) with the analysis results. Report to be provided in English.
2. 2 pages report summary with key findings
3. 1-page infographics

Timeline for Media Analysis:

1. Meeting and Brainstorming: 2 days
2. Literature Review: 4 days
3. Raw data Review and Management: 5 days
4. Data Analysis: 11 days
5. Report Writing: 9 days
6. Report Presentation: 1 day
7. Finalization: 3 days

About You:

You will be a motivated and proactive Media Monitoring Data Analyst with the right combination of talent, energy and commitment to technical excellence.  You will also have:

A relevant university degree (at least Bachelor) in Social, Communications, and/or related fields.
At least five years’ experience in undertaking both quantitative and qualitative analysis of similar datasets.
Proven experiences working in the field of media monitoring analysis
Profound experiences in managing media monitoring, including developing media analysis report for program context.
Able to narrate ideas/concept into infographics
Available on short notice between August – October 2021
