WAKATOBI SIGAP OFFICER

 

The Wakatobi SIGAP Officer (WSO), facilitate and provides support for implementation community conservation and empowerment livelihood initiative through SIGAP approach, particularly in helping local stakeholders including Adat Institution understand the ecological and economic importance of marine protected areas (MPAs) or other coastal ecosystem protected areas, conservation awareness and education campaigns, revitalize local wisdom/customary law to support conservation efforts. S/he is accountable to provide support to ensure strong coordination, process documentation development and monitoring activities during the implementation of community conservation and empowerment programs through SIGAP approach, SIGAP alliance and Kios Konservasi in IOP project sites.

 

She/he may provide and support operations including administrative, financial, project management, as well as development of conservation programs that related to increase community conservation approach in each site.  She/he may lead volunteer and work teams to ensure the coordination to support and implementation of agreed project sites plans related to conservation work related to SIGAP or community in focused areas. The Wakatobi SIGAP Officer will also ensure record of best practices as well as lesson learnt to continue improving the design and approach.

 

In coordination with the IOP field sites team, s/he provide support in development of education, communications materials with relevant partners to increase and sustain public awareness and support of IOP in all respective demonstration sites. This position is based in Wakatobi and provide support to all TNC Ocean Program sites, s/he will report to Ocean SIGAP Specialist and working closely with Wakatobi Stakeholders Engagement Coordinator including to coordinates on the Wakatobi Program implementation. S/he is also will work together with Fisheries and science unit particularly for the works related to seaweed development.

 

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS/AS/Technical or Vocational Degree in science-related field and 1-year related in custodial and ecological land management or similar field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with natural systems
  • Experience with ecological coastal and marine management principles
  • Experience with community engagement
  • Experience using applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Web Browsers
  • Experience writing and/or editing publications and related materials
  • Public speaking experience
