 Yayasan Konservasi Alam Nusantara, is the main partner of The Nature Conservancy (TNC) in Indonesia. YKAN mission is to protect lands and waters on which all life depends. YKAN provides innovative solutions for realizing harmony between nature and humans, through effective management, non-confrontational approaches, and building a network of partnerships with all stakeholders. EXTERNAL AFFAIRS SENIOR MANAGER

 

YKAN has been working to support improved practices and policy of terrestrial and ocean programs in Indonesia since 2014. The External Affairs Senior Manager plans, develops, implements, and coordinates comprehensive external affairs initiatives for YKAN to affect government policy and regulations at national level to further the YKAN mission. Duties include regular contacts with government officials at national level regarding matters pertaining to regulatory actions related to terrestrial and ocean programs. S/he serves as YKAN primary contact to government agencies, bilateral and multilateral agencies, and/or embassies related to terrestrial and ocean programs.

 

This includes the following functions:

 

Relationship Building & Partnership

  • Manages the external affairs aspects of YKAN’s programming with external stakeholders in accordance with the MoU of YKAN and associated technical/cooperation agreements (e.g. government, academics, business associations, corporations, civil society organizations).
  • Manages relationships with the Indonesian Government as required under the SOP for engagement with public sector entities and ensures compliance with the SOP for Lobbying.
  • Serves in particular as a focal point to the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of State Own Enterprise, Environmental Fund Management Agency (BPDLH), Ministry of Home Affairs, Peatland and Mangrove Restoration Agency (BRGM), as well as relevant bilateral and multilateral agencies, and embassies.
  • Serves as a focal point to TNC Global and Asia Pacific teams on policy- and public funding-related matters that s/he handles.

 

Policy Work

  • Addresses complex and innovative solutions with government agencies, bilateral and multilateral agencies, and embassies to advance and influence policies related to green financing, impact investment, and environmental fund allocation and management,  which included, among others, green climate fund (GCF), global environment fund (GEF), debt-for-nature swap, village fund allocation to support natural resource management, allocation of CSR money of the state owned enterprises to support conservation, etc.
  • Promotes YKAN terrestrial and oceans work and secures on-going commitment and policy support from key government, bilateral and multilateral agencies to YKAN terrestrial and ocean work that would enable YKAN and its partners in different locations to tap GCF, GEF, debt-for-nature swap, environmental fund managed by BPDLH, CSR money of the state owned enterprises to support natural resource management for mangrove restoration etc.
  • Supports the engagement of Indonesian policymakers in international policy dialogue.
  • Produce and/or support formulation of policy papers to promote YKAN conservation work particularly on green financing, impact investment, and environmental fund.

 

Public Funding

  • Develops and implements external relation strategies to increase YKAN visibility to secure public funding to support the development and growth of YKAN.
  • Works closely with key YKAN staff to inform them and increase their understanding of the range of public funding opportunities and to assist in successfully leveraging those opportunities.
  • Develops content and provide inputs for concept notes and proposals development.

 

Supervising

  • Develops TORs, draft contracts for various consultant.
  • Oversees consultant’s activities and performances.

 

The External Affairs Senior Manager reports to the YKAN Executive Director and is based in Jakarta.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in political science, environmental policy, business, or related field and 6 (six) years of senior management level experience in government relations, corporate sector, or equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • Fluency in English verbal and written.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated relationship building skills.
  • Proven negotiation skills. Having experience in negotiating complex high profile or sensitive agreements.
  • Proven written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Analytical and project management experience. Demonstrated experience in successfully developing and implementing complex projects in an unstructured environment.
  • Experience developing, directing, and managing multiple projects and implementing                 strategic program goals
  • Direct experience working with partners and government agencies.

 

 

PROJECT DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR

 

·      Support conservation portfolio and activities under corporate practices.

·      Develop fundraising documentations (e.g. proposal, concept notes, presentations, pitch deck, letter of interests, narrative reports) in liaison with various departments (Program, Legal, Finance, Development Team).

·      Perform in-depth analysis and research in the development of documentations (e.g. environmental-related data, statistical data, business intelligence, market research).

·      Assist in the registration of a partnership/engagement

·      Generate periodic internal and external reports including report for donors.

·      Support the daily operations of the Indonesia Water Coalition as required.

·      Assist in the registration of a partnership/engagement to designated platforms.

 

The Project Development Coordinator reports to the Director of Development & Marketing and is based in Jakarta.

 

Qualifications:

·     Bachelor’s degree and 2 years’ experience or equivalent combination.

·     Experience building relationships with staff, customers or similar.

·     Experience generating reports and interpreting data.

·     Experience in proposal writing, editing, and proofreading.

·     Experience working across teams.

·     Good English writing and communication skills.

·     Experience and/or has basic knowledge on sustainability, particularly in environment.

·     Experience in research and analysis.
