SAVU SEA COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR
The Savu Sea Community Development Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing community outreach, communication and educational strategies that effectively communicates YKAN’s conservation messages and promotes its conservation and community involvement efforts in sustainable practices.
S/he responsible to strengthening the capacity of villages and districts government in adopting sustainable practices models (sustainable aquaculture, community tourism and community fisheries), formulating regulations, and developing strategic programs to access village fund in term of sustainable coastal and marine resources management. S/he influences conservation values into village planning (RPJMDes) and support the capacity building for various groups to achieve village progress and independence through SIGAP approach.
The Savu Sea Community Development Coordinator is also responsible for encouraging adoption process related to sustainable practices; promote lesson learnt to wider audiences and replication in other areas. S/he will assist community/indigenous people through awareness campaigns and media awareness to promote sustainable practices.
To obtain the highest quality results, the Savu Sea Community Development Coordinator will work closely with Savu Sea Program Manager and Oceans SIGAP Coordinator.
The Savu Sea Community Development Coordinator directly reports to the Savu Sea Program Manager and is based in Menia, the capital of Sabu Raijua Regency – East Nusa Tenggara Province.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries, Marine Conservation, Communication, Environmental Education, and 3 years’ experience in public education associated with conservation projects or equivalent combination of education and experience
· Ability to sell ideas to a wide variety of people and interests’ groups.
· Experience using common software applications such as Word, Excel, web browsers, etc. May require database management skills with ability to produce reports. Ability to use advanced computer functions including navigating the Internet. Ability to manipulate, analyse and interpret data.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills, including public-speaking skills.
· Ability to organize time and manage diverse activities and meet deadlines
