GIZ Indonesia for "The Digital Transformation Center (DTC) Indonesia": Junior Advisor Public Relations & Communication and Events

 Advancing digital development is one stand-alone development policy objective that the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) is particularly committed to pursuing together with its international partners. On behalf of BMZ, the Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is implementing the Global Programme Digital Transformation to develop innovative BMZ flagship projects on a global scale. Under the flagship “Local Innovation” digital ecosystems in partner countries are being supported. 

The Digital Transformation Center (DTC) Indonesia is part of this global initiative and supports Indonesia in its national digital transformation. The overall aim is to narrow the digital divide, reduce disparities and to give all population groups equal opportunities to benefit from the prospects of digitalisation while enabling them to assess its risks independently. The Digital Transformation Centre Indonesia focusses in particular on the two elements of (1) government advisory and (2) digital entrepreneurship & innovation ecosystems. It is extended by the Make-IT Indonesia initiative. 

Overall, as global partners, Indonesia and Germany are determined to work together to deliver sustainable, climate-neutral and resilient development that benefits the planet as well as its people. The DTC Indonesia therefore is embedded into the wider Indonesian-German development cooperation and its priority areas of:

  • Responsibility for the planet (climate and energy)
  • Protecting life on earth (environment and natural resources)
  • Training and decent jobs (sustainable growth). 

We are looking for a Junior Advisor “Public Relations & Communication and Events” to join our young and vibrant team working on the implementation of the Digital Transformation Center and Make-IT Indonesia.   

To support implementation of DTC, we seek one (1) motivated and qualified Indonesian candidate for:  

Junior Advisor Public Relations & Communication and Events 

 

A.    Responsibilities

  • Supporting the projects in designing a comprehensive and creative communication and PR approach
  • Supporting close exchange on behalf of the DTC and Make-IT to the communication teams within the GIZ Country Office Indonesia and GIZ’s Digital Cluster in Germany, providing quality control and alignment of GIZ corporate branding and design guidelines with all communications materials
  • Supporting the team leader of the DTC and project teams on communication and public relation activities of the projects
  • Documenting digital approaches within the TC portfolio of German-Indonesian technical cooperation, creating PR materials, and communicating these with the project/s stakeholders and other DTCs around the world (Output 3 of the DTC)
  • Developing and ensuring availability of publication materials needed to promote the DTC and Make-IT
  • Supporting better collaboration with digital ecosystem multipliers, media, journalists and social media influencers that are relevant to the project/s
  • Support the planning and execution of events in close collaboration with the project/s admin professional and advisors  

B.    Tasks 

The Junior Advisor will perform the following tasks under disciplinary supervision of the Head of the Digital Transformation Centre.

1. PR Activities of the Projects

  • Supporting the development and refining of appropriate PR instruments in cooperation with the partners and other project stakeholders (e.g. brochure, flyers, factsheets, newsletter, standard presentation set, videos, etc.) in accordance with the corporate design standards;
  • Coordinating PR & Communication activities with technical advisors, GIZ Country Office Indonesia and GIZ’s Digital Cluster in Germany
  • Designing, producing, publishing, and disseminating communication instruments / tools to national and international audience under the supervision of project leads
  • Preparing/maintaining a standard presentation set for every digital approach in the TC portfolio – relevant to the DTC
  • Acting as interface to the GIZ Country Office Indonesia and supporting quality control and alignment with GIZ corporate branding, identity, and design guidelines
  • Contributing to GIZ Indonesia/ASEAN core publications (e.g. factsheets, website, project location map, success stories);
  • Coordinating the drafting of website descriptions for the GIZ.de and Make-IT website regularly and send to Comm & PR unit;
  • Contributing to social media content related to project for GIZ’s Indonesia and GIZ general social media accounts. 

2. Knowledge management and Communication

  • Contributing to the project/s monitoring & evaluation system
  • Maintaining an internal knowledge base and working closely with project staff to ensure all knowledge products are updated, readily available and in right order;
  • Documenting digital approaches within the GER-IDN development cooperation priority topics and thematic focal areas and Promoting knowledge sharing in appealing ways;
  • Maintaining the project’s knowledge management system (file server) jointly with the Junior Advisor for Digital Transformation for Development;
  • Ensuring that all relevant documents are available and uploaded to DMS (Data-Management System of GIZ) and the project’s server;
  • Preparing fact sheets with GIZ design: projects, topics
  • Writing articles: Buzz, GIZ’s Make-IT newsletter, etc.
  • Cooperating with GIZ global communication/global project in producing necessary communication material. 

3. Events

  • Supporting the design and planning of events to support the achievement of project‘s objectives (e.g. multi-stakeholder workshops)
  • Supporting the administrative professional and other advisors in event preparation and execution of project events
  • Supporting the coordination of technical input from Project Lead/s and Technical Advisors for key project events
  • Facilitating the contributions to other events where project is involved (e.g. towards GSMA, WSA, HIIG and/or others)
  • Overseeing design / branding / corporate identity (backdrops, invites, etc.) according to GIZ and partner standards
  • Preparing media kits and e-flyers as necessary
  • Analysing post-event/evaluation reports
  • Supporting communication and coordination with relevant partner 

4. Research

  • supporting the stakeholder mapping for the project/s
  • supporting studies in this regard 

5. General obligations

  • is familiar with GIZ monitoring and reporting standards
  • is familiar with other programme components and GIZ-assisted measures, concepts and status of implementation and knows the corresponding experts and staff
  • represents the interest of the GIZ-assisted measure and always acts on its behalf 

6. Other duties/additional tasks

  • assists the Head of the Digital Transformation Centre in general tasks for the successful implementation of the project
  • assists other experts, if necessary, as translator

C.    Required qualifications, competences and experience 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in public or international relations (or related field) 

Professional experience

  • At least 1 year of experience in the field of international affairs, content marketing or digital strategy (e.g. as intern)
  • Experiences in conducting public events – online and offline
  • Experiences in development cooperation and working with government
  • The following experiences are of advantage
    • good understanding of and network within the digital innovation ecosystem in Indonesia
    • working with start-ups and the Indonesian innovation ecosystem

 Other knowledge, additional competences

  • Excellent communication skills and fluency in Bahasa Indonesia and English
  • Ability and willingness to work in a dynamic team
  • Good interpersonal skills and a willingness to cooperate effectively with colleagues and partners across projects
  • Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management 
  • Advanced working knowledge of ICT technologies (related to software and online technologies for the work environment), Excel and other computer applications (e.g. MS Office);
