 JOB RE-POSTING

GENDER EQUALITY TECHNICAL SPECIALIST FOR INDONESIA AND ASEAN

FIELD SUPPORT SERVICES PROJECT (FSSP)

1.   SUMMARY OF THE PROJECT

Field Support Services Project (FSSP) Indonesia is a five-year project funded by Global Affairs Canada (GAC) and managed by Cowater International. FSSP provides administrative, financial, procurement, and logistical services, as well as support to the in-country development programming for the Government of Canada through the provision of technical specialists in gender equality, governance and human rights, and environment and climate action and assisting GAC in procuring and managing local development initiatives. These programs take place in Indonesia and the ASEAN regions

2.   BACKGROUND

Canada’s Feminist International Assistance Policy (FIAP 2017) seeks to eradicate poverty and build a more peaceful, more inclusive and more prosperous world. Canada firmly believes that promoting gender equality and empowering women and girls is the most effective approach to achieving this goal. Gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls (SDG 5) is central to all our international assistance efforts because it will drive progress toward achieving the other SDGs. In Indonesia and ASEAN, while Canada’s development cooperation programs will continue to be guided by the FIAP, emphasis will also be placed on the implementation of Canada's Indo-Pacific Strategy (announced in November 2022).

Canada’s Indonesia Development Cooperation Program is aligned with the Government of Indonesia’s 2020-2024 National Medium-Term Development Plan/RPJMN and focuses on the following priorities:

  • Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women and Girls: Increase women’s and girls’ voices and leadership in political and economic life, strengthen their access to productive resources and participation in the economy, support health and nutrition, and advance and protect their rights, notably sexual and reproductive health and rights.
  • Environment and Climate Change: Support Indonesia's climate change mitigation and adaptation efforts, including through the protection and restoration of vulnerable marine and terrestrial ecosystems, while promoting green, inclusive and sustainable growth and livelihoods.
  • Explore innovative multi-stakeholder partnerships and financing initiatives for achieving the SDGs.

Canada works with a wide range of international and local civil society organizations, and multilateral organizations. Canada collaborates with several Indonesian Ministries (such as Finance, National Development and Planning, Environment and Forestry, Energy and Mineral Resources, Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection, Department of Family Planning) in the implementation of Canada’s international assistance program in Indonesia.

Canada’s ASEAN Development Cooperation Program focuses on the following priorities:

  • developing ASEAN human capital by investing in people, including promoting life-long learning, sustainable economic growth and the protection and rights of vulnerable populations; and
  • strengthening ASEAN regional stability by advancing peace and security, gender equality (with a particular emphasis on women’s empowerment) and disaster management.
