RFP 2003-XX Support to Strengthen Provincial USI-IDD (GAKI) Teams in Central Java

 Dear Potential Bidders,

Since 2010, Nutrition International (NI) has been providing support and assistance to government and salt processors for salt iodization in three main salt producing areas; viz. Central Java, East Java and West Nusa Tenggara province i.e. Bima and Lombok district.

Nutrition International has provided technical assistance and support to develop capacity of salt processors to fortify salt, assistance to provincial Industries and Trade Offices in monitoring and supervision of USI programs. Considerable progress has been made during these last six years, particularly on the institutionalization of USI monitoring system within local governments. Adequately iodised salt production in the three provinces has reached 90%.

However, this progress needs to be built on and sustained through effective and strong USI planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation managed by the Provincial GAKI (USI-IDD) Team, particularly the GAKI Teams of two of Indonesia’s main salt producing provinces viz. Central Java and East Java. There is need to support these two main provinces to strengthen the GAKI Teams in Central Java and East Java in coordination of BAPPEDA (Provincial Planning Board). BAPPEDA needs to play an active role to coordinate the planning, implementation, review and evaluation of the USI program.

Therefore, NI is seeking to hire an agency/organization to provide support to strengthen the provincial GAKI teams in Central Java province.
